海上保安事件の研究(第91回)昭和51年7月27日午前11時に横浜港を出港し,ナホトカに向け航行中のソ連定期客船「バイカル号」に乗船していた日本の女子大生Nが行方不明となり,8月3日午前9時半頃,北海道瀬棚郡瀬棚町須築西方約1.6キロメートル付近の海上で,漂流死体で発見された。解剖の結果,仮死状態で海中に投げ込まれ,溺死したものと推定されたので,海上保安庁と北海道警は殺人事件として捜査を開始したが,犯行現場が公海上で,我が国の管轄権が及ばないこと,及び,犯人がソ連人船員であるとされたことから,捜査を打ち切った事例。いわゆる「ソ連客船『バイカル号』女子大生船内殺人事件」
